Student Testimonial

Thanks a lot for EC! I attended EC school for six months from March to September 2020. When I arrived in Montreal, my class was started immediately. When I entered my class, I was happy because there were fewer Japanese students than I excepted. It means this environment was good for studying. I was looking forward to enjoying a school life.
However, unfortunately EC school was closed due to COVID-19. In other words, I could take a class at the real school only one week. I could make only one friend who is from Korea and we entered EC school on the same day. I really wanted to make a lot of memories with her at school… I didn’t have any friends because I came in Montreal all by myself. In other words, I missed the chance to meet a lot of people. I thought about just going back to Japan after school was closed. I decided, instead, to take the online classes offered by EC Montreal. Honesty I wasn’t sure at first about the online classes, however, if I didn’t take the virtual classes, I wouldn’t have been placed in Ana’s class. She is such a good teacher and I really liked taking her class. She often gave me a lot of advice because I couldn’t have confidence in my English and in myself. In addition, my other English teacher, Mariella, gave me advice on how to make my resume and CV even outside of class. I noticed and learned that I could still connect with someone online because of them.
Finally, I overcame quarantine. EC school was reopened on August 31. Finally, I could go to the real school for my last two weeks. I was very impressed with that I could meet teachers for the first time in six months. I could meet great people because I chose EC school. If I didn’t choose EC, I couldn’t meet my best friend! I’m really looking forward meeting her again. If I didn’t choose EC, I couldn’t meet great teachers. And above all, I could get confidence in myself and I have started to like English! Thanks for EC Montreal!!

Teacher Testimonial

My name is Melissa and I’m excited to join the EC Montreal’s teaching team. I’m originally from Toronto, Canada, and have lived and worked both in Toronto and Hong Kong, teaching English. I strive to create a positive, peaceful, and warm environment in my classroom, so that students feel free to learn.

One of my favourite things about working in a place like EC Montreal is the variety of people that I get to meet as a teacher, and I love getting to hear people’s stories and see how learning to communicate plays a role in their lives! In my free time, I like to watch movies and read – I especially enjoy scouring used book stores for good finds! I also love music – I play guitar and piano, and sing, and I absolutely love going to see live music.

I’m looking forward to meeting lots of students and helping them share their stories, gifts, and experiences with the world.
