UCLA has 16 dedicated recreational and athletic facilities, including a fitness centre, numerous swimming pools and much more! Throughout the last 100 years, University of California Los Angeles has established its reputation as a “Public Ivy”, making it equivalent to an education from an Ivy League university. The location is in the centre of the city making it perfect to enjoy the best of living in Los Angeles

Living

  • Standard triple and double dorm rooms with a shared common space
  • Dorm rooms have a shared bathroom ratio of 1:8
  • Each room is furnished with a chest of drawers, closet space and desk
  • Laundry available in each residence building. High-speed internet throughout (WhatsApp usage limited). Communal lounges on each floor of the residence building
  • Deposit of $100 required upon arrival, replacement of lost room key $100
  • Students are responsible for keeping their rooms clean and tidy. Bathrooms are cleaned daily.
  • Meals served in on-site cafeteria, packed lunches on excursions. 
  • Convenience shop, basketball courts, tennis courts, and swimming pool located nearby.

Learning

  • Taught by friendly and professional English teachers 
  • 20 x 45 minute lessons per week 
  • Placement test on day 1 to ensure students in appropriate level

  • When possible, students will be placed in an international class with students of different nationalities 
  • Common spaces are used as classrooms 
  • Curriculum with emphasis on communication skills

Arrival

Students will be welcomed upon arrival at Rieber Hall, where they will register, get their room keys, and check in to their rooms. 

Welcome

The opening evening will feature a warm welcome event, thoughtfully planned to facilitate student interaction with both faculty and fellow peers, providing an avenue to acquaint themselves with the campus, its amenities, and indispensable insights that will enhance their entire stay 

Activities

Activities are organised on evenings and afternoons with full-day excursions on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. On Sundays, students can choose between an optional — not prepaid — excursion or on-site activities. Onsite activities may include: 

  • Sports such as tennis, basketball, and soccer 
  • Drama and performance activities such as karaoke night and talent shows 
  • Evening activities such as arts and crafts and casino night

Beach Day:

Discover the ultimate coastal paradise in Santa Monica and Malibu, where sun-kissed beaches, vibrant pier attractions, and the breathtaking beauty of Zuma Beach await, offering a perfect blend of relaxation and excitement by the sparkling Pacific. 

California Science Centre:

Beverly Hills and Griffith Observatory:

Each 14-night stay includes 3 full-day excursions to exciting places around Los Angeles such as Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, and Downtown LA, visiting places of interest in each location. Transport for trips may be by private coach or public transport. Students may have lessons either in the morning or in the afternoon in week 1, alternating weekly after that.

Student Welfare

We place the highest priority on care and supervision at all of our Embassy Summer centres so you can rest assured students are well looked after. Members of staff are available 24 hours a day.

Medical information

If a student needs medical attention, an Embassy Summer staff member will help make an appointment. Group leaders must accompany the student to the appointment. An Embassy Summer staff member will accompany any student that is not part of a group. All costs have to be paid by the student. Students must have written consent from their parent/guardian for any medical treatment to be administered. Students must provide proof of medical insurance prior to arrival.
