Description of Local Area

The LIV Dublin residence is located on Church Street, just minutes away from the cool, up-and-coming area of Smithfield. The area is well-connected to the city centre by bus and Luas, but there are also a number of little cafés, restaurants and bars nearby if you would prefer to stay close by. The Lighthouse Cinema is less than ten minutes from LIV Dublin, where you can catch all the latest arthouse movies as well as repeats of old classics. Many famous tourist attractions, such as Kilmainham Gaol, Collins Barracks and Jameson Distillery, are all within walking distance from the residence.

Description of Accommodation

LIV Dublin is purpose-built student accommodation with over 200 rooms, located just fifteen minutes from Dublin’s bustling city centre. Each bedroom has a double bed, ensuite bathroom with a shared kitchen and lounge area. LIV Dublin caters to students, both academically and socially: it has a comfortable, spacious study lounge and café, as well as an exclusive cinema room and events space for when the study is over and the fun begins! There is also a gym on-site. Should you have any queries or face any problems, there is a team at the reception desk 24/7 to help you with anything you need.

Miscellaneous
  • Bedroom and common room of each apartment are cleaned once weekly. Outside of this time we encourage the students to keep on top of general cleaning. Mop and hoover are available from reception
  • There are 6 dryers and 6 washing machines. €3 per wash and €3 per dry. Token system, available for purchase at reception
  • Luggage drop-off is allowed
  • Utility bills are included
  • 24-hour on-site security
  • Kitchen utensils are provided. 8 rooms share the same kitchen.

Journey to school

30-minute walk (2.5km); or take the 83 bus from just outside the complex and stay on for 11 stops. The journey takes approx. 20 minutes.

Arrival and departure
  • Arrival day: Saturday ( Sunday arrival is possible)
    Check-in: 3pm onwards
    Early check in are not allowed. If the room they are checking into is ready then of course they will be checked-in at whatever time they arrive.
    LIV Dublin Residence is covered 24 hours a day so there is always someone to welcome a new arrival. If the team member is not on the desk, then the student can call the number displayed on reception. Having arrival flight info it will help to organise the plan for arrivals.

  • Departure day: Saturday
    Check-out: before 10:00 a.m.
    Late check out is not allowed. If for any reason a student does need to depart later than 10am they should speak with the on-site team to agree a convenient time.

Cancellations

Cancellation prior to arrival

Students cancelling or postponing 14 days or less prior to their accommodation dates will be charged a two-week accommodation fee at the rate quoted in the price list for the accommodation booked and the accommodation placement fee.

Cancellation after arrival

Students leaving their accommodation must give notice in writing 4 weeks prior to termination. If the 4-week notice period is not provided a cancellation fee equal to 4 weeks of the accommodation cost will apply.  After deducting the price of accommodation used at the rate quoted in the price list, including the required notice period charged at the same rate, students will be refunded the remaining accommodation costs.

Airport Pickup

If you have booked an airport transfer with EC, the driver will be waiting for you in the arrivals area of the terminal holding an EC sign with your name on it.

Other ways to get to your residence

Bus (50 mins): take the Airlink 747 bus from the Maldron Hotel at Dublin Airport and stay on the bus for 12 stops (approx. 40 mins). Get off at the Liberties on High Street and follow this road around to the quays. Cross the bridge and walk for about 2 minutes until you see LIV Dublin on your right-hand side, opposite the Smithfield Law Library.

Arrival Procedures

Students must bring their ID to reception and they will be given their room key and shown to their room by LIV Dublin staff. No booking reference is required as LIV will have all our EC student details on their system. EC Dublin welcome packs will be left in the bedroom, as well as a health and safety pack.

House Rules

  • Students must be 18+ to choose this accommodation
  • Mixed gender
  • Students will complete an Authorisation for Damage Deposit form on the first day of school. No credit card or bank details are required
  • No guests are permitted to stay overnight due to Health & safety and security reasons
  • Smoking is allowed in a designated smoking area
  • While we promote and support diversity, we cannot guarantee language mix. However, we always encourage students to use English to communicate and to be respectful and inclusive of others
  • EC provides a clean living space for all students and expects a basic level of respect from all students. For example, if something is dropped, pick it up; do not leave clothes and belongings on the floor; place rubbish and leftovers in a garbage bag
