The Upper West Side Apartments are a three minute walk to the subway and approximately twenty-five minutes to EC New York. The area is notable for its proximity to Columbia University, Barnard College, Central Park, Morningside Park, and Riverside Park. The neighborhood is full of students and has a diversity of restaurants that you must try!
Description of Accommodation
The Upper West Side Shared Apartments provides students with a comfortable and economical stay while in the Big Apple. The shared apartments are located within a large Manhattan prewar building that was newly refurbished. The home has ample amenities including a communal smart gym, work/study area, and a rooftop garden. The apartments themselves have modern Scandinavian inspired interiors with in-unit laundry and furnished kitchens. Rooms are single bedrooms and students will share the full bathrooms with another student. The entire apartment is four bedrooms with two bathrooms.

- TV is located in the shared living space. There isn’t cable, but students can access any personal streaming platform they may have.

Early check-in is allowed. Students can wait in the common areas of the apartment complex or the unit itself until the room is prepared for them.
Students must check out of their room by 11:00, but can wait in the common areas of the building or apartment as long as there is space.
Departure Day: Saturday

Cancellations
Cancellation prior to arrival
Students cancelling or postponing 14 days or less prior to their accommodation dates will be charged a two-week accommodation fee at the rate quoted in the price list for the accommodation booked and the accommodation placement fee.
Cancellation after arrival
Students leaving their accommodation must give notice in writing 4 weeks prior to termination. If the 4-week notice period is not provided a cancellation fee equal to 4 weeks of the accommodation cost will apply. After deducting the price of accommodation used at the rate quoted in the price list, including the required notice period charged at the same rate, students will be refunded the remaining accommodation costs.
Airport Pickup
If you booked an airport transfer, after you collect your luggage and exit into the Arrivals Area, find the Welcome Center and look for your driver. Your driver will be waiting there with a sign that has your name on it. Please note: For arrivals at JFK International Airport, there is construction at Terminal 1 and 7. Your driver will not be able to enter the terminal, but has been instructed to meet you curbside. After entering the arrivals area, go outside to the street and meet your driver at passenger pickup area “B”. For Terminal 4, please take the airport shuttle bus to the Remote Ride App and Car Service Lot location and your driver will be in either pick-up slot R1, R2 or P2.
NOTE: International transfers will arrive 90 minutes after the flight lands and domestic arrivals will arrive 30 minutes after the flight lands to allow the students to retrieve their luggage. If you do not see a driver with a sign with your name on it, please call the EC New York Emergency phone line at +1-631-612-4494.
House Rules
- Students need to be 18 years old to use this accommodation.
- No guests allowed.
- Smoking is not permitted in any part of the apartment.
- No pets or partying. Quiet hours are from 22:00-9:00 daily.
- While no security deposit is collected, any damage to the apartment, fixtures within the apartment, appliances, or theft of items within the apartment may subject to additional fines imposed by the landlord.
- Students arriving in EC accommodation between 22.00 – 08.00 may be asked to book alternative accommodation for their first night. This is to ensure student’s safety on arrival.
- While we promote and support diversity, we cannot guarantee language mix. However, we always encourage students to use English to communicate, be respectful and inclusive of others.
- EC provides a clean living space for all students and expects a basic level of respect from all students. For example, if something is dropped, pick it up; do not leave clothes and belongings on the floor; place rubbish and leftovers in a garbage bag.
- Students are required to follow EC Student Code of Conduct, failure to do so can result in termination of the accommodation.
Arrival Procedures
Students will be provided with check in instructions pre-arrival and the option to download the Latch App. Students can access the main apartment complex entry by either utilizing the Latch App or entering the code for the main door. Students will also need to use the Latch App or a code for entering the main door for their apartment unit. Individual rooms are assigned by color and will be assigned prior to arrival by the school. Building and apartment codes should not be shared or distributed to anyone.
