The climate in Malta is typically Mediterranean – very hot, humid days and nights in July and August and cooler temperatures during the winter months. The Islands have a very sunny climate with a daily average of five to six hours sunshine in mid-winter to more than 12 hours in summer.

Tap water is safe to drink throughout the Maltese Islands. Many people however drink both local and imported bottled mineral water which is easily available.
EC Beach Club – Between May and September EC adult students have free access to a beach club at Surfside , Sliema. The beach club is open 7 days a week. The address is:- Surfside Beach Club, Tower Road, Sliema. Students need to show their student ID upon entrance and entrance is free. All students get a discount on food and beverages on presentation of their student card.
Gym – EC offers the students a weekly membership at Malta’s best gym – Cynergi Health & Fitness Club. Membership is heavily subsidised, students pay only Euros 28 for a full week’s membership. The gym is very close to school and forms part of a 5 star hotel complex. Cynergi offers a variety of aerobic classes, a free-weights hall, resistances and cardio machines, 2 squash courts, heated indoor pool, saunas and steam bath. The gym is open from Monday to Friday between 06:00 – 22:00. On Saturdays entrance is 06:00 – 20:00. On Sundays entrance is 08:00 – 18:00.
The minimum driving age is 18. The minimum age of renting a car is 21 even though some car hire companies may charge a supplement for those drivers under the age of 25 years.
The legal age for consumption of alcohol in Malta is 17.
The legal age for smoking in Malta is 16 years. Smoking in enclosed public places is illegal.
Free hospital emergency treatment is available for European travellers on production of a valid European Health Insurance card (EHIC). All other nationals are advised to have a comprehensive health insurance.
