Description of Accommodation

Comfortable and spacious accommodation that offers fully furnished bedrooms, making it an ideal choice for groups or students or individual traveling together. Each bedroom is furnished with a comfortable bed, nightstand, and a closet or dresser for storing personal belongings. The rooms are tastefully decorated with modern and stylish décor to create a cozy and inviting atmosphere.  The main doors and all the bedroom doors have a digital lock to them.  This code will be included in the self-check-in email. 

The living room is beautifully decorated with comfortable seating, a dining table, and other décor to create a cozy and welcoming space for students to relax and socialize. The room is equipped with a TV and high-speed internet access, providing entertainment and connectivity for students.

The kitchen is fully equipped with modern appliances, and everything needed to prepare and enjoy meals, including a refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, cutlery, knifes, mugs & glasses, plates, bowls, pots, pans, tray, toaster, grater, kettle and dishwasher. The kitchen also features a dining area with ample seating for students to enjoy meals together.

  • Weekly communal area cleaning only (living room, bathroom, kitchen, emptying out garbage and replacing the trash bag). Students are responsible for cleaning their own bedroom.
  • 2 dryers / 2 washers (Free usage).
  • Utility bills are included.

  • $45 cost for additional cleaning of common spaces.

Journey to school

The distance between 3108 Wellington Ave and 570 Dunsmuir St is approximately 10 kilometres’ best and convenient way to travel is by public transport.

Vancouver has an extensive public transit system, and there are several routes you can take to get to school. From your starting point,

Walk to Wellington Ave at Boundary Rd (stop ID: 52429)-5 minutes walk.

Take the bus 028 towards Joyce Station

Get off at Joyce Stn Bay 5 (stop ID: 52467)

Take the SkyTrain Expo Line towards Waterfront Station

Get off at Granville Station

Exit via Granville Street and head southeast on Dunsmuir Street towards Seymour Street.

Your destination, 570 Dunsmuir Street, will be on your right. 

Note: Travel times may vary depending on traffic and public transit schedules. Please allow for extra time during rush hours.

Arrival and departure

Arrival Day: Saturday (Sunday arrival possible)
Check-in time: Self check-in after 3:00 PM

Self check-in instructions will be emailed to student 3 days before their arrival. This email will include the main door access code, their room access code and other necessary information.

Departure Day: Saturday
Check out: 11:00                        Late check out is not possible.

Cancellations

Cancellation prior to arrival

Students cancelling or postponing within 14 days of arrival date, for reasons other than visa denial, will be charged a one-week accommodation fee at the standard accommodation rate and the accommodation placement fee.

Cancellation after arrival

Students leaving their accommodation must give notice in writing 4 weeks prior to termination. After deducting the price of accommodation used, including the required notice period, charged at standard accommodation rates, students will be refunded the remaining accommodation costs. If the 4-week notice period is not provided a cancellation fee equal to 4 weeks of the accommodation cost will apply.

Airport Pickup

If you booked an airport transfer, someone will meet you at the airport and bring you to your residence.
If you are at International arrivals, you will meet an EC Transfer Representative after you walk through 2 sets of automatic doors. They will be wearing a yellow t-shirt and holding a yellow sign with the EC logo on it and standing across from the wooden statues.
If you are at Domestic Arrivals, collect your bag from the baggage carousel and wait in that area. You will see an EC Transfer Representative wearing a yellow t-shirt and holding a yellow sign with the EC logo on it.
If after 10 minutes you cannot see the EC representative, just call +1 604.988.7639 or text/WhatsApp +1.778.773.5466 (from the public phone, information desk or a mobile phone).
If your flight is missed, delayed, or cancelled, or if there is any other problem, you should notify EC Transfer Representative by calling +1 604.988.7639 or text / WhatsApp +1.778.773.5466 (from the information desk or a mobile phone) to rearrange your transfer time and avoid additional cost.

Other ways to get to your residence

Student can take Uber/Lyft or taxi to the residence.

Arrival Procedures

You will received an email from VanMates regarding arrival procedures, it is essential to carefully read and follow the instructions provided in the email. Additionally, if the email specifically requests a response to confirm that you have received and read it, it is important to promptly reply to the email to confirm that you have received it. Responding to the email can help ensure that you clearly understand the arrival procedures and any other important information related to your travel or stay.

House Rules

  • Age Requirement: Students must be 18 or older to choose this residence.
  • Mixed Gender: Male and female students share common areas and facilities, but bedrooms are single-gender.
  • Overnight Guests: Overnight guests are not allowed.
  • No Smoking: Smoking is not permitted anywhere in the residence.
  • Students arriving in EC accommodation between 22.00 – 08.00 may be asked to book alternative accommodation for their first night. This is to ensure student’s safety on arrival.
  • While we promote and support diversity, we cannot guarantee language mix. However, we always encourage students to use English to communicate, be respectful and inclusive of others.
  • EC provides a clean living space for all students and expects a basic level of respect from all students. For example, if something is dropped, pick it up; do not leave clothes and belongings on the floor; place rubbish and leftovers in a garbage bag.
