Dorp Street Residence

Description of Local Area

Dorp Street Residence is located in the heart of the CBD. It is within walking distance of well-known, trendy Bree Street, which has restaurants, cafes, pubs and clubs. The house has a warm, welcoming feel to it and there is a living room which is quite cosy where students are able to relax, watch TV or play board games.  The house is an ideal base to experience Cape Town at its very best. The Company’s Gardens and the South African Museum are just a few streets away and many other tourist attractions, such as Table Mountain or the V&A Waterfront, are also nearby.

Description of Accommodation

The residence has an antique theme to it, and the décor in the common areas will definitely make anyone feel quite nostalgic! There are 15 rooms in the residence, made up of single and shared rooms. Each room has good lighting and a desk for studying. Some of the rooms lead out onto a balcony area where you can have a breath of fresh air or a view of Table Mountain.  There are shared bathrooms for students. Students are responsible for keeping their own space clean and tidy. Cleaning up is especially important after you have used the kitchen for cooking. Upon arrival, the residence staff will show students to their rooms, hand over keys, inform student of the house rules and show them how to get to EC. The easiest way to get to school is by walking, as the accommodation is only 1km away.
