Erasmus + for teachers

EC Malta 30+ and EC Dublin 30+ have extensive experience welcoming English teachers and education professionals eager to improve their skills with the support of the Erasmus+ programme. We are an approved school for your Erasmus scholarship. Erasmus is a European programme for education, training, youth and sport. Erasmus+ offers many opportunities to Erasmus students to develop.

What can you expect on this course?

Erasmus+ students can opt for a General English course in an international class or travel as a group and follow a tailor made course. All our courses provide participants with access to quality English language opportunities, as well as the chance to network with other educators from around the world.

WEEKLY OUTCOMES

Each week, in class you can expect to:

  • Learn a minimum of two language points.
  • Gather a range of topic-related lexis.
  • Build your intercultural communication skills.
  • Develop a single study skill across the week.
  • Develop your learning skills.
  • Work in pairs and groups to develop your communicative competence.

 

Each week, outside class you can expect:

  • To explore your chosen city.
  • To network with like-minded individuals.
  • To take advantage of our rich and vibrant social programme.

SPECIAL FOCUS CLASSES (SFC)

In your SFC, you can choose to focus on specific areas, depending on your needs. Our academic management teams can advise you on which SFC would best meet your specific needs upon arrival. Possible SFCs are:

Speaking with Confidence
Learn the skills and language needed to communicate confidently in a range of situations.

Grammar for Real Communication
Learn to use a range of grammar points together in a single conversation. Activate or revise the language you have studied before.

English for Work
Learn the skills and language needed to be successful in an international workplace.

Expand your Vocabulary
Learn topic-based lexis and practising using it in common conversations.

Exam Skills
Learn the skills and language needed to be successful in your chosen high-stakes exam (e.g. IELTS or TOEFL)

Your learning journey

BEFORE YOU ARRIVE

Once you have registered, you get access to MyEC, where you can access you To Do list and prepare yourself by:

  • Taking your Placement Test.
  • Setting your own learning goals.
  • Learning about EC’s approach to learning.
  • Watching a welcome talk from your school.
  • Checking the details of your Sunday welcome event.

 

Once you have completed your placement test, you get access to self-study exercises at your level so you can begin learning and practising before you leave your country.

 

DURING YOUR COURSE

Practicalities

As part of your course, you will receive:

  • Study materials.
  • Access to further online study materials.
  • A vibrant social programme.
  • Additional academic workshops (optional).
  • Learn & Explore sessions combining learning and an excursion (optional).
  • Access to a 24-hour emergency contact.

 

Progress

We know how important it is for students to see their progress. Our systems ensure you have the time and information to discuss your progress with your teachers.

  • Practical Homework Tasks: your teachers will give you homework tasks that give you the opportunity to practise what you’ve learnt outside the classroom so you can see exactly how well you’re progressing.
  • Weekly Scores: each week your teacher will give you scores on your speaking, homework, and participation and motivation. These can be accessed through MyEC and discussed during Feedback Friday.
  • Feedback Friday: on Friday, your teacher will revise and consolidate the week’s learning. You will practise what you’ve learnt and receive feedback from your teacher and your classmates on your progress.

 

YOUR FINAL WEEK

In your final week, you will receive:

  • An Exit Test.
  • An Exit Report: outlining your progress.
  • A feedback survey.
  • A certificate of attendance.

 

AFTER YOU LEAVE

With MyEC, you can continue learning even after your course has ended. With three month’s access, you can continue working on your English development with authentic online news lessons, grammar activities or skills development tasks.

This course is suitable for students

Who are over 30 years old, do not have English as a first language but work in the educational sector.

This includes those who:

  • Teach English.
  • Teach another subject through English (CLIL).
  • Are planning to teach English or through English in the future.
  • Are working on research projects through English.
  • Are responsible for communicating with colleagues or parents through English.
  • Attend or speak at conferences in which English is the dominant language.
