Airport Transfers

  • Students must arrive on Saturday and depart on Saturday between 08.00 - 20.00; otherwise an extra transfer fee will apply.
  • Information regarding arrival time, flight number, airline, name of airport and terminal number must be sent to EC Head Office at least seven days before the student’s arrival. If this information does not reach us within the stipulated time, EC Cambridge will not be responsible for providing airport transfers to the student and will not offer any compensation to students who have not been picked up because of this.
  • Airport transfers are compulsory unless students are accompanied by a guardian.

Student Arrivals

Students are met in the Arrivals Hall by an EC representative holding a sign with the logo ("EC Young Learners"). If students cannot find the EC representative at the airport, they should call the EC Young Learners emergency number and wait by the airport information desk. It is also vitally important that if students miss their connection to the UK, they call the EC Young Learners emergency number to inform EC that they have been delayed. Students will be taken directly to their host family.

In order to travel to school, host family and day programme students must buy a bus pass. A weekly bus pass costs up to £27.00 (This price is subject to change) and can be purchased on the bus.

EC staff

EC employs Staff specifically for the Young Learners Winter Programme. These benefit from a rigorous in-house training programme. Their role is to ensure that students have an enjoyable and safe stay and provide constant support to International Leaders.

Welcome Pack

Students will be given a Welcome Pack, containing a map with directions to the school, and important information such as the time they need to be at school on their first day.

Homestay students will receive their Welcome Pack at their homestay. The Welcome Pack for Day Programme students will be sent to their accommodation, provided that the address is given to EC pre-arrival.

Welcome Talk

Students will be given a welcome talk by the Academic Department where timetables, lessons and academic information are explained. The Programme Manager will explain the leisure programmes and activities.

Placement Test

When students arrive at school, they will take a placement test which assesses their grammar and vocabulary. Speaking and listening skills are also assessed. The test takes about 1.5 hours to complete and its purpose is to help the school place students in the appropriate class at the right level. This will allow the students to make the most of their time and help the teachers plan lessons according to the students’ linguistic needs.
