Airport Transfers

Arrival information must be sent to EC at least 7 days before the student's arrival in order to book airport transfers. If this information does not reach us within the stipulated time EC Malta will not be responsible for providing airport transfers to the student and will not offer any compensation to students who have not been collected because of this.

In case of flight delays, or delays at Customs or immigration, students should call EC Staff on the Emergency number so that the driver will wait for them.

In the case of a late night arrival an extra night fee will be charged. If a late check out is required, this may incur an additional charge.

Student Arrivals

When students arrive at the airport they will be greeted by an EC representative who will be holding an EC sign. The EC representative will guide the students to their transport. If the student cannot find the driver, he/she should wait at the information desk.

In the case of lost luggage, it is very important that the student or group leader informs the EC representative BEFORE reporting the luggage missing. If they do not, our airport representative will not realise that the students have arrived and may conclude that the student/group was not on the flight. Normally the airport can retrieve lost luggage within 72 hours and will deliver it to the student's accommodation.


On the first day students can make their way to school independently or can travel with the EC representative who will be waiting at the residence accommodation at 7.15am. After their first day, students should travel to school independently by public transport.

EC staff

EC employs fully trained and experienced staff that benefit from a rigorous in-house training programme and are well-versed in student welfare procedures. Their role is to ensure that students have an enjoyable and safe stay and provide constant support to International Leaders.

First Day

Upon arrival, students are given a student card which indicates what time they need to be at school on Monday morning. Students sit for a placement test on their first day.

Following the Placement Test, a welcome talk will be given by members of the Academic staff and the Customer Relations staff about the school's rules, activities and safety awareness for the time the students will spend in Malta. After the welcome talk students will have some free time while their test is being marked. EC social leaders will look after the students until it is time to be introduced to their teacher and taken to class.

All students must present their passport/ID at Reception on arrival at the school on their first day as proof of identity.

Students can purchase a bus pass on their first day at school for €21 (7 days - unlimited travel).

Welcome Pack

Students will receive a Welcome Pack at their hotel. This contains a handbook containing general information about Malta, a map, EC emergency numbers, timetable, safety instructions, an activity programme, school rules, and a student card.

Placement Test

When students arrive at school they sit a placement test which assesses their grammar & vocabulary. Speaking and listening skills are also assessed. The test takes about 1.5 hours to complete and the purpose of it is to help the school place students in the appropriate class at the right level. This will allow the students to make the most of their time and help the teachers plan the lessons according to the students’ level and needs.
