Why UCSC Silicon Valley Extension ?

UCSC Extension is a division of the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC). Approximately 10,000 students study here annually, building practical skills in Business, Technology, Biosciences and Education.

UCSC Extension’s professional certificate programs are open to international students and are located in the heart of Silicon Valley, which is renowned as the world center of cutting edge IT innovation and the economic powerhouse of global business.

Modern Facilities and Up to Date Knowledge
Instructors at UCSC Extension have experience in some of the world’s leading companies, and they share real-world, practical knowledge. The modern classrooms are equipped with the latest presentation technologies. Up-to-date computer labs allow students to practice with the software tools used in today’s workplace.

Studying at UCSC Extension is also a social experience, putting you in contact with up-and-coming professionals from a range of fields. International students account for about 5% of the student population.

All Extension curriculum is reviewed and approved by UCSC academic departments, and your certificate will carry the University of California seal.

The UCSC main campus is located on the Pacific coast, at the northern tip of the beautiful Monterey Bay. UCSC is one of 10 campuses in the prestigious University of California system, one of the world’s most highly-regarded public institutions of higher education.

Study with us and get real world experience at the same time
Students can gain credit for unpaid internships by enrolling in UCSC Extension’s internship course, “Business Practices for International Students,” for 3 units per quarter. In order to receive credit, interns must intern a minimum of 90 hours during the quarter they are enrolled. Interns may work more than 90 hours, but will only receive a total of 3 units per quarter.

We have partnerships with some of the newest and fastest growing start-ups in Silicon Valley. Our students take advantage of the many internship opportunities in the Silicon Valley because they can intern during the day with a local company and take their classes in the evening at UCSC Extension.
