Welcome to the AX Seashells Resort at Suncrest – a hotel in which you can watch the sunrise from the comfort of your bed while sipping your morning coffee. Catch the best sea views on the island from a leading 4-star Qawra accommodation.
The Suncrest Hotel is in on the north coast of Malta overlooking the clear Mediterranean Sea. Qawra is only 10 minutes away on foot from Bugibba and St. Paul’s Bay, where one can find grocery stores, pharmacies, souvenir shops, restaurants, Internet cafes and a cinema. The beautiful sandy beaches of Malta`s north coast are only a few minutes drive away, while the capital Valletta and the shopping centres of Sliema are within approximately half an hour away. The hotel is also conveniently located next to various bus stops, which allows full mobility to the entire island.

Malta Facilities
Classrooms
All Classrooms are based on site at the hotel and equipped with free wifi, projectors & pc’s. There is a maximum of 12 students in each General English class.
Dining Hall
The dining hall called It-Tokk that will be used for Breakfast and dinner is located on the lower ground floor by the deck and swimming pool area. Both these meals will be a buffet service.
Lunch is served in a different restaurant at the Hotel and consist of both hot and cold dishes. We can cater for gluten or wheat free, celiac and vegetarian diets. It is important that any dietary requests are made known to us in advance of arrival.
Internet Facilities
Wifi is available throughout.
Mobile Phones
Students can bring their mobile phones but must not use them in class or activities unless directed to.

Shops
The area the hotel is situated in has numerous shops and small grocers that students can buy day to day necessities from.
The Academy Office
Someone will be available on site to assist the students at all times.
Swimming Pool
There are both indoor and outdoor swimming pools that may be used at the hotel.

Laundry
On a specific day each week personal laundry will be collected and washed. It will be returned to the hotel the next day to be collected by the students.
Cleaning
Rooms and communal areas are cleaned every other day, linen and towels are changed at least once a week.
Towels
Bed linen and towels are provided. Students should bring their own beach towels.
Safe
There is one safe per room available for free that students can share.

Night Security
There is a supervisor at this centre who is on duty 24/7. They will be carrying out spot checks but also be available should the students need anything.
Welfare and Medical
A number of residence staff live in at the hotel and are responsible for the students welfare. They will assist with waking them up each day, making sure they eat well and are happy and participating. The students can talk to their team about any problems they may have. Doctors can be called on site if a student isn’t feeling well at an extra charge and students are taken to a clinic/hospital by the Welfare team if it is something more serious. It is important that the student has Insurance or a European Health card as otherwise they will have to pay at the clinic/hospital.
Mornings
Each weekday morning students will have lessons from 9:00am until 12:30pm. There will be three hours of lessons with two breaks: one for 10 minutes and one for 20 minutes. There will be a snack and drink provided during the 20-minute break.
Afternoons
Each afternoon EC Academy students will take part in their chosen specialist course.
The choice of courses available is: Sailing, Multi Activities, Diving & Coding and Gaming It is possible to change course from week to week but it must be confirmed by the agent or parent through Admissions at Head Office by 3pm on the Friday before the Monday of each week.
We cannot do course changes from day to day or mid-week except for proven medical reasons.

Sailing
This programme gives students the opportunity to take advantage of fully qualified and experienced instructors – accredited by the Malta Young Sailors Club in Malta. The students set sail on the crystal clear Mediterranean sea from the sea-side town of St Pauls Bay. Students learn basic nautical skills and may sail a variety of boats. Buoyancy aids are provided. Students will be awarded with a certificate or higher depending on their level, duration and boats used.

Diving
The PADI Open Water Diver course is the world’s most popular scuba course and has introduced millions of people to the adventurous diving lifestyle. During the course, students will make at least five pool dives and four dives at local dive sites under the supervision of a local PADI Instructor (instructor to student ratio is up to 1:3). The students will dive four times a week, each session lasting four hours. Malta is constantly rated one of the best diving locations in the Mediterranean, with crystal blue waters and lots of sites near the shoreline.

Coding and Gaming
This course is about one thing - building a cool robot! We will put together an open source robotics platform, for you to keep. The robot is Arduino powered and can be used as a learning platform for future projects. Students will learn all about Arduino, soldering and writing code to control sensors and motors.

The Meal Plan

Breakfast
Breakfast includes a lavish continental and English buffet spread, along with Teas, Coffees, Juices and more
Lunch
All our lunches offer a varied and balanced diet with options and preferences for all students.
Students are offered lunch either whilst out on activity or at the School between Monday to Friday. At school students are offered a variety of either hot or cold lunches depending on the day. The options may include fresh salads, cold pastas, chicken, different bread varieties and more.
Packed lunches are usually offered on the weekends when student will be out for the full day.
Dinner
Three-course style buffets meal with a choice of starters, main courses and desserts. Water will be available with dinner.
Dietary Requirements
Special dietary requirements may be accommodated subject to availability and a weekly fee.
Water
Temperatures in Malta during summer are quite high; therefore students need to drink plenty of water. Whilst water is provided during meals and at school, students will be expected to buy bottled water at other times. It is important to take this into account when evaluating the amount of pocket money needed.
