London’s colourful Shoreditch area is alive with creativity and packed with things to do! Students study at a fantastic campus in the heart of England’s fashion and arts capital, just a short tube ride from all of London’s most iconic sights. Students live at Will Wyatt Court, part of University of Arts London whilst studying at New City College, just a 4-minute walk away.

Breakfast

Continental breakfast available including juice, tea, coffee, toast, jams, cereal, pastries and fruit.

Packed lunch (provided at week end): This will consist of a sandwich, water, fruit and / or chocolate.

 

Evening Meal

Three courses, 2 main course options including a vegetarian option.

 

Snacks

There are several shops nearby to purchase snacks, drinks and confectionary.

Facilities

Learning

  • Taught by friendly and professional English teachers
  • 20 x 45 minute lessons per week morning or afternoon
  • Placement test on day 1 to ensure students in appropriate level
  • Maximum 15 students per class
  • Students will be placed in an international class with students of different nationalities
  • Spacious modern classrooms located a short walk from the accommodation
  • Curriculum with emphasis on communication skills
  • Materials included as well as and end of course report and certificate

Programme Information

Arrival

Students will be welcomed upon arrival to UAL Will Wyatt Court Residence where they will register and get their room keys so that they can check-in to their rooms.

 

Welcome

On the first evening there will be a welcome activity which is designed to ensure students have the opportunity to meet staff and other students and get to know more about the centre, its facilities and useful information which will help them during their stay.

 

Activities

Activities are organised every day, these activities take place either on-site or near the centre. These may include:

  • Sports such as football, mini Olympics, rounders, table tennis, volleyball and basketball
  • Daytime activities such as Thames River Cruise, St Paul’s cathedral, Tower Bridge, scavenger hunts, drama workshops, British Museum etc.
  • Evening activities such as karaoke, talent show, film night, South Bank by night etc.

Excursions and Trips

FULL-DAY

  • Brighton: A vibrant, popular seaside resort with beautiful architecture with a visit to the Sea Life Centre.
  • Canterbury: Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this is one of the most visited cities in the UK with medieval buildings, including the gothic architecture of Canterbury Cathedral.
  • Cambridge: An iconic university city famous for its colleges where students will visit King’s College.

HALF-DAY TRIPS

Our students get to explore exciting places around London every weekday, visiting places such as: the British Museum, St Paul’s Cathedral, Tower Bridge experience, the National Gallery, Leicester Square and Chinatown. 

OPTIONAL EXCURSIONS/ACTIVITIES

  • Thorpe Park: A popular theme park with extreme rides and attractions.
  • Oxford: One of the most famous university towns, students will visit one of the colleges.
  • Windsor Castle: The oldest and largest inhabited castle in the world.
  • Afternoon activities: Students can visit the world-famous London Eye, Madame Tussauds and London Dungeon.
  • Evening activities: Students choose to go bowling, go to the cinema, or even see a musical!

3 WEEK SAMPLE PROGRAMMES

Extra

For a 14-night stay, students will receive ten local accompanied visits in London. Embassy Summer reserves the right to offer all excursions by either coach or public transport. The programme is for illustrative purposes only and is subject to amendments or alterations.

Students will visit some of the following: Natural History Museum, National Gallery, British Museum, Tate Modern, Covent Garden, Camden Town, Oxford Street, Westfield, Regents Park, Hyde Park, Greenwich, Piccadilly Circus, Harrods, Oxford Street, London Walks: Westminster Walk, Southbank Walk etc.Students may have lessons either in the morning or in the afternoon, alternating weekly after that.
