Our centre is located next to the seafront and is part of University of Portsmouth. Both the centre and accommodation are within a short walking distance of the city centre, the Historic Dockyard and the Clarence Pier.
The centre consists of modern facilities, comfortable single en-suite rooms and large common areas. The programme offers lots of opportunity to explore the dynamic city of Portsmouth and all it has to offer.

Room furniture includes wardrobe, desk and chair
Rooms and bathrooms are cleaned weekly
Common areas are cleaned every other day

A deposit of £30 required upon arrival, replacement of lost room key is £35

Continental and cooked breakfast (depending on the day) including juice, coffee, toast, cereal and fruit.


Two courses, three options including vegetarian and halal.

Packed lunch (provided at weekends): water, fruit, sandwich, crisps and biscuits.

There are several shops nearby for purchase of snacks, drinks and confectionery.

Embassy Portsmouth Living Map

Taught by friendly and professional English teachers
20x45 minute lessons per week, morning or afternoon
Placement test on day 1 to ensure students in appropriate level
Maximum 15 students per class
Students will be placed in an international class with students of different nationalities
Spacious standard classrooms
Modern classrooms are located a short walk from the accommodation
Curriculum with emphasis on communication skills
Materials included as well as an end of course report and certificate

Programme Information
Students will be welcomed upon arrival at the Embassy office located in Rees Hall where they will register and get their room keys and can check in to their rooms.
On the first evening there will be a welcome activity which is designed to ensure students have the opportunity to meet staff and other students and get to know more about the campus, its facilities and useful information which will help them during their stay.
Activities are organised every evening all week and before or after lessons. These activities could be on-site or near to the centre.
These may include:
  • Sports such as football, mini Olympics, rounders, table tennis, volleyball and basketball
  • Daytime activities such as scavenger hunts and drama workshops
  • Evening activities such as karaoke, talent show,  team games show, and team games
Getting to and From School Activities : 

Our students walk, travel by local traffic or private coach for activities and excursions outside the centre.

Excursions and Trips
Our students get to explore exciting places such as Gunwharf Quays, The Isle of Wight and Arundel Castle, as well as local visits in the Portsmouth area
London: Visit this exciting capital city and take a walking tour of central London, and visit the National Gallery
Oxford: Explore this iconic university city and its famous colleges
Brighton: Enjoy this vibrant, popular seaside resort with beautiful architecture and visit the Palace Pier and the Sea Life Centre
Thorpe Park: enjoy extreme rides and attractions at this popular theme park
London: Madame Tussauds or Tower of London
Salisbury and Stonehenge: medieval cathedral city and iconic prehistoric stone circle
For each 14-night stay students will go on 8 local visits by foot, 2 half-days trips to local towns or attractions and two full-day excursions to London, Brighton or Oxford. Transport for trips may be by private coach or public transport. 
Student may have lessons either in the morning or afternoon in week 1, alternating weekly after that.

We place the highest priority on care and supervision at all of our Embassy Summer centres so you can rest assured students are well looked after. Members of staff are available 24 hours a day.

If a student needs medical attention an Embassy staff member will help make an appointment. Group leaders must accompany the student to an appointment. An Embassy staff member will accompany any student that is not part of a group.
