  • Students get free cleaning service if they book for 4 weeks or more (bedroom and common room). The cleaning service provided for free every 4 weeks. If a student books less than 4 weeks of accommodation and the student wants to request a cleaning for their residence, it would cost $50 for a cleaning regardless the room type.
  • Bed linen and towels are changed for free every 4 weeks. However if the student wants to wash them there is a washer in the apartment, which can be used for free. Students only need to buy their own detergents.

Description of Local Area

EC Washington DC’s student residence is located just across the river from Washington DC in Crystal City, Virginia. Crystal City is a modern, urban neighborhood with many offices, shops and restaurants.  The Crystal City Metro station is only a 10-minute walk away and is easily accessible from the residence via an underground walkway.

Description of Accommodation

Each apartment consists of two bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, dining room, and a comfortable shared living area which features free Wi-Fi and cable tv. The bedrooms are either single or twin.  Apartments can accommodate up to 4 residents. Students who book a single room will share the apartment with 1 or 2 other residents. Students who book a twin room will share their bedroom with 1 other resident and will share the apartment with 1 or 2 other residents. Single rooms have a queen-sized bed and twin bedrooms have two twin-sized beds. All bedrooms have a desk and plenty of storage space. There are two full-sized bathrooms in each apartment, one for each bedroom.

Journey to school

The residence is approximately 20 minutes from the school. To travel to the school, follow the directions below:

  • Take the Blue Line from Crystal City Metro Station for 6 stops (20 minutes) to Farragut West Metro Station.
  • Exit the station at 17th and I Street.  Walk along 17th Street next to Farragut Square.  At the K Street intersection, continue slightly left onto Connecticut Avenue.
  • Continue Northwest up Connecticut Avenue and you will see the entrance to the Blake Building at 1025 Connecticut Avenue. The school is on the 7th floor in suite 701. You will need your ID to enter the building so please remember to bring your passport.


Cancellation prior to arrival

Students cancelling or postponing within 14 days of arrival date, for reasons other than visa denial, will be charged a one-week accommodation fee at the standard accommodation rate and the accommodation placement fee.

Cancellation after arrival

Students leaving their accommodation must give notice in writing 4 weeks prior to termination. After deducting the price of accommodation used, including the required notice period, charged at standard accommodation rates, students will be refunded the remaining accommodation costs. If the 4-week notice period is not provided a cancellation fee equal to 4 weeks of the accommodation cost will apply.

Airport Pickup

If you have booked accommodation with EC you must arrive at the airport between 08:00 and 20:00.

Late/early arrivals may be asked to book alternative accommodation.
You will meet an EC transportation representative with EC Washington sign who will meet you at the baggage claim for your flight if you arrive at Reagan National airport (DCA) or at Door 1 in front of International Arrivals if you arrive at Dulles International airport (IAD).

If after waiting 10 minutes you cannot see the EC representative, just call 1-202-909-5873 (from the information desk or a cell phone).If your flight is missed, delayed, or cancelled, or if there is any other problem, you should notify EC by calling 1-202-909-5873 (from the information desk or a mobile phone) to rearrange your transfer time and avoid additional cost.

Other ways to get to your residence

From Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD):

  • Exit the airport from Door 4 and go upstairs to the Silver Line Express ticket counter and buy a ticket ($5).
  • Take the Silver Line Express bus from just outside the ticket counter to Wiehle-Reston East Metro Station (15 minutes). At the Metro Station buy a Smartrip card or buy a ticket to Crystal City Metro Station ($3.60 with a Smartrip card).
  • Take the Silver Line Metro towards Largo Town Center and ride for 10 stops until Rosslyn Station (35 minutes).
  • Change to the Blue Line towards Franconia/Springfield and ride for 4 stops until Crystal City Metro station (8 minutes).
  • Exit the station and walk via the underground walkway to Crystal Plaza Apartments.

From Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA):

  • Exit from the Concourse (Level 2) at terminals A or B to get to Reagan Airport Metro Station and buy a Smartrip card or a ticket to Crystal City Metro ($1.75 with a Smartrip card).
  • Take the Yellow Line towards toward Fort Totten/Greenbelt OR the Blue Line toward Franconia/Springfield for 1 stop until Crystal City Metro Station (2 minutes).

From Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI):

  • Take the BWI Amtrak/MARC Shuttle from the Airport Terminal between Doors 1 and 2 to BWI Amtrak/MARC Station (4 stops, 12 minutes).
  • Walk about 1min to the BWI Rail Station and take either the MARC or Amtrak train to Washington Union Station (30-45 minutes).
  • Exit Union Station and look for ‘M’ signs to take you to Union Station Metro Station. Take the Red Line towards Shady Grove for 2 stops (4 minutes) to Gallery Place/Chinatown Metro Station.Change to the Yellow Line toward Huntington for 5 stops until Crystal City Metro Station (11 minutes). Follow as above.

Arrival Procedures

A week before arrival we will be sending them instructions from the vendor. 
The student will pick up the key at the following address: Pentagon City Mine Merchant 1330 S Fern St, Arlington VA 22202. The student will give a code to the staff and the staff will give the student their key for their room. A week before arrival we will be sending them instructions from the vendor.

The student will give a code to the staff and the staff will give the student their key for their room. If the room is ready the student can check in. If the room is not ready the students can leave  their luggage in the room and check in at 4 pm or earlier if advised by the residence staff.

The hours to collect your key are as follow:
Monday – Thursday 11:00 – 21:00
Friday – Saturday 12:00 – 22:00
Sunday 12:00 – 20:00
The keys cannot be collected before or after those hours and they must be taken back to the pick-up location when departing. If there are any problems, please call the emergency phone number +1 202 909 5873 and someone will help you.

House Rules

  • Students must be 18+ to use this accommodation
  • Apartments are male or female only. Mixed gender: must be requested
  • Once you arrive at school, you will need to pay a $300 damage deposit which will be returned if the room is in good condition on your departure. School will collect it
  • Guests are allowed but students must to talk with their roommate first
  • Smoking is not allowed
  • While we promote and support diversity, we cannot guarantee language mix. However, we always encourage students to use English to communicate, be respectful and inclusive of others
  • EC provides a clean living space for all students and expects a basic level of respect from all students. For example, if something is dropped, pick it up; do not leave clothes and belongings on the floor; place rubbish and leftovers in a garbage bag
