Student Testimonial

This testimonial is my way to personally thank the EC staff for the support and kindness they have shown me throughout these unforgettable months.

Almost a year ago I moved to Miami and looked around for a place to learn English. I found many acceptable options, however something brought me to choose EC and I'm really glad I did. Thanks to EC's motivated teachers, today I feel much more comfortable with the language. And I could say the same for most of the students I've met along my path. No matter how many there were in the school, none of us was ever left behind or excluded. A team of extraordinary people was always there to track our personal improvements and give us advice on how to reach our goals. We always received individual attention but were encouraged to be a group, where different cultures were discovered and respected. And this is probably what I loved and appreciated the most, because it showed me another world I thought to know, but actually did not.

I should also mention the great job the administration did managing our visas or accommodations, and the enthusiasm the front desk showed every time a new activity was going to be organized. However, it's the friendly yet professional atmosphere I have breathed at EC Miami that I'll miss the most. A unique experience I deeply wish many other students live as soon as possible.

Teacher Testimonial

I’ve been interested in international travel and culture for as long as I can remember. As a child, I was fascinated by reading books and watching movies about life in other parts of the world. Growing up in a small town in Massachusetts, my first real taste of this came through travel to the Caribbean, Spain and my high school graduation gift which was a volunteer trip to Ghana. It was on this trip that I first taught English.

Attending college at UNC Charlotte, I was exposed to a large body of international students and found some of my best friends among them. While studying, I became a tutor not only for English but for other writing and communication based business courses as well. After graduating with double majors in English and International Studies and a minor in Journalism, I moved to Argentina to become certified and begin working as an ESL teacher.

After spending a year and a half there, I decided to move back home and pursue ESL teaching stateside. I was attracted to Miami by the weather, mix of cultures and fusion of city and island life, and have not been disappointed. I spend my free time biking, swimming in the ocean, going out to eat and exploring everything this city has to offer.

Since I began, I have loved teaching. To me, there is nothing more interesting or enjoyable than talking with people who have lived very different lives and come from different perspectives than my own. I always try to bring humor, games and music into my classes to make it fun for both the students and myself. I think EC Miami is a great school because it offers students a variety of courses and teachers and fosters lasting friendships among students.
