Description of accommodation

Homes vary in type. Some homes are apartments, some are townhomes, and some are single family homes.

You will enjoy a comfortable Homestay environment, plus benefit from extra English lessons with your host, to really boost your learning and make the most of your time.

At least one of your hosts will be a qualified teacher, and give you five private, one-to-one English lessons per week. Your host will also take you out on one excursion each week, such as a visit to a local attraction, shopping, or another enjoyable activity in the local area.

Your room will be naturally lit and contain a bed, drawer and closet. Some rooms have a TV and other amenities.

Description of local area

Los Angeles County is sprawling and divided into various different areas that are full of character and personality. The cities of Los Angeles county are vibrant and culturally diverse. Our host families reflect the diversity of Los Angeles, and also include single people, couples and single-parent families. All families are fluent in English and eager to share the diversity of Los Angeles with international visitors.

Meal Description

Every meal is nutritious, fresh and prepared daily. our host families make an effort to adjust the type of food offered to the tastes of the students and take religious beliefs into consideration when preparing meals. Vegetarians or people with food allergies should specify upon booking.

Breakfast varies from family to family. It is usually self-service and includes bread, coffee and cereal. Hosts are encouraged to offer students whatever is typical for their home. Students who book half board will eat whatever the family eats. If the host family is dining out, the student will accompany them as a guest. Dinners are usually quite early in the USA, but families will inform the student of the time when they eat. Not all families will sit down and have dinner together every night. It is important that the student informs the host family beforehand should they be late or not having dinner.

Some hosts will allow students to use their kitchens to cook on their own, but this varies from family to family. Students should always ask before using the kitchen and should clean up after themselves.
