Description of Local Area

East Boston is located just across the Boston Harbour from downtown Boston and boasts beautiful views of the city from its many waterfront parks. 
The style of the neighbourhood is typical of historic Boston neighborhoods, with three-storey homes, apartments, restaurants, and shops packed tightly into each city block, and a lot of hustle and bustle.  You will be exposed to many diverse American cultures in East Boston: Latino, Italian, African-American, Brazilian, Chinese, etc., forming an exciting modern American neighbourhood. 
East Boston is full of many shops and restaurants for you to explore just steps away from your apartment. Maverick Square, just a 2-minute walk away and is complete with Boston’s diverse cultural dining options. It is also within walking distance of Jeffries Point where you can relax, see a great city and harbour views, and watch the sun rise and set.
Just a 10 minute T-ride away is Boston’s Constitution Beach, one of the most popular beaches in the city. The New England harbour town of Winthrop is just a few T stops away, where you can enjoy more beaches, shoreline, and beautiful views of the city of Boston.
East Boston is home to Boston’s Logan airport, so getting from the airport to your apartment is simple!

Description of Accommodation

The East Boston apartment offers modern, stylish design inside a classic building. There are four bright, large bedrooms, two beautiful, updated bathrooms, a common area with comfortable seating and a reading nook, as well as a shared kitchen with modern appliances, including laundry facilities. Apartment is at the top of the stairs, on the top floor of the building, so the apartment gets beautiful light year round.

Arrival and departure

  • Arrival day: Saturday (Sunday arrival: Upon request).
    Check in: 2pm - 7pm
    Early Check in is possible only on special request.
    Late Check in is allowed. There is a lock box outside the front door, where the student can collect keys for early or after-hours check in. The directions for opening the lock box, along with the code, for the student to use will be provided. Please take only one set of keys! If the student has any difficulties, he should call the Emergency Phone for assistance.

Journey to school

To get to the school, turn right out of the apartment onto Orleans Street, and then left onto Sumner Street. Walk about 3 minutes to Maverick Square, and get on the T at Maverick Station. Take the Blue Line Subway (T) inbound towards Bowdoin Station and exit the train at State Street Station.Walk along State Street down the hill, crossing the intersection with Congress Street, toward Faneuil Hall. After crossing Congress Street, walk for one block and take the first left on Merchants Row.  EC Boston will be on your left, across from Anthem Restaurant.


Cancellations

Cancellation prior to arrival

Students cancelling or postponing within 14 days of arrival date, for reasons other than visa denial, will be charged a one-week accommodation fee at the standard accommodation rate and the accommodation placement fee.

Cancellation after arrival

Students leaving their accommodation must give notice in writing four (4) weeks prior to termination. After deducting the price of accommodation used (including the required notice period charged at standard accommodation rates), students will be refunded the remaining accommodation costs. If four (4) weeks’ notice is not provided, a cancellation fee equal to four (4) weeks of accommodation will apply.

Airport Pickup

If you have reserved our airport transfer service, the driver will be waiting, holding an EC sign. If you arrive on an international flight, the driver will be waiting outside the Immigration & Customs area.If you arrive via a domestic flight, the driver will be waiting in the baggage claim area.
If you do not see the transportation representative immediately, please make sure to wait at least 15 minutes before leaving the designated meeting point to call the transfer company emergency number, +1 (800) 609 1402.  Even if the representative does not answer, leave a message confirming your name and location, and the agent will find you within a few minutes.  You may also call the emergency phone number at +1 (617) 990 4880, and an EC staff member will assist you.
If your flight is missed, delayed, or cancelled, or if there is any other problem, please make sure to contact EC Boston at +1 (617) 990 4880.

Other ways to get to your residence

You can take a taxi or the subway to get to the residence.
Taxi: Taxi service costs on average $35-50.
Subway:The subway and bus routes serving Boston Logan International Airport are operated by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (better known as the MBTA or the "T").  At Boston Logan, walk out any exit and look for the rectangular signs that say “MBTA” or “Airport Shuttles.”  Wait for the bus that says “MBTA Blue Line” on the front and sides of the bus (the shuttle will be numbered 22, 33, or 55).  The shuttle is free you do not need a ticket to board.
Take the shuttle for approximately 5 minutes to the Blue Line T stop labelled “Airport.”  Inside the station, purchase a ticket at one of the ticket machines in the entrance hall.  (Depending on your plans, you may choose a single Charlie Ticket Rapid Transit fare, a 7-day Link Pass, or a Monthly Link Pass.)  You will take the Blue Line train in the direction of Bowdoin.  Trains typically arrive every 5 to 15 minutes.
Ride the train in the direction of Bowdoin for one stop, to Maverick station.  Exit Maverick Station, and turn left onto Sumner Street.  Walk for approximately 3 minutes, and turn right to Orleans Street  The apartment is on the left side of the street.

Arrival Procedures

Please make sure to follow these instructions; otherwise, we cannot guarantee that the person who will check you in will be at the apartment when you arrive. Before you come to the United States, please send your flight details or an estimated arrival time at the time of booking accommodation, or as soon as possible once known.
If you have reserved the airport transfer service, we will know your time of arrival at the residence. An EC representative will be at the apartment in order to check you in if you arrive during check-in hours. If you arrive outside of check-in hours, you will need to access the lockbox. You will receive lockbox information prior to your arrival. If you have any problems, call the emergency phone number at+ 1 (617) 990 4880, and an EC staff member will assist you.
Once you arrive at the East Boston residence, there will be a lockbox outside of the apartment for you to get your keys. You will receive the code to the lock box prior to your arrival. If you have any problems, call the Emergency Phone at +1 (617) 990 4880, and an EC staff member will assist you.

House Rules

  • Students must be 18+ to choose this accommodation
  • Mixed gender (sharing rooms - are single gender)
  • A $300 security refundable deposit, payable by credit card, is required upon arrival. Should no damage to property be encountered upon inspection, students will be refunded from 4-6 weeks following departure. (Detailed check out procedure will be given on the last Wednesday of your stay)
  • Guests are not allowed overnight
  • Smoking is not permitted in the apartments
  • While we promote and support diversity, we cannot guarantee language mix. However, we always encourage students to use English to communicate, be respectful and inclusive of others
  • EC provides a clean living space for all students and expects a basic level of respect from all students. For example, if something is dropped, pick it up; do not leave clothes and belongings on the floor; place rubbish and leftovers in a garbage bag; take the trash outside to the garbage bins daily
