Description of Local Area

91 Cherry Hinton Road Student House is a well maintained house in the southern area of town.

The Cherry Hinton is located just a few minutes away from the popular Cambridge Leisure Park, with a multi-screen cinema theatre, restaurants, club, bowling, fitness club and cafes.

Description of Accommodation

91 Cherry Hinton Road is a modern house featuring two good size kitchens with all appliances, 6 shared bathrooms, 6 single bedrooms, and 5 twin bedrooms. The house is mixed gender.

Next to the residence are shops, take-away places (Chinese, Indian, and Turkish), a typical Cambridge pub, The Rock, a pharmacy, a post office, a news agent, a bakery, and an Italian deli/mini supermarket.

Arrival and departure

  • Arrival day: Saturday (Sunday arrival: On request as we need to inform our Meet&Greet person)
    Check-in: 9am - 5pm
    Students arriving for check in at the residence, please contact our Meet & Greet Ewelina 30 minutes prior to arrival at 0788 981 1291.
    Those landing at the airport after 7pm need to arrange an EC transfer as the driver will have the keys to the apartment.

  • Departure day: Saturday
    Check-out: before 10am
    Late check out is not allowed. The students can stay in the residence as long as they want on their check-out day, they just have to vacate the room so the cleaners can prepare for new arrivals. Also, the Cambridge Leisure centre is only a few minutes to walk away to alternatively the students could go there (restaurants, cafes…) to pass the time.

Journey to school

Approx. 30 - 40 minutes on foot, 20 minutes by public transport, or 10 minutes cycling.

The bus stop is located in front of the house; the 'Citi 3' bus runs 7 days a week and is a quick route from/to the centre.

To find your way to school from the central bus station:
Head northeast on Emmanuel Street toward Drummer Street. Then turn right onto Parker Street and continue on to Parkside. When you get to a crossroads with traffic lights, turn left onto East Road. Continue walking on East Road, then turn left onto Burleigh Street. You will find the school (EC) on the left side of Burleigh Street. The walk will take you approximately 15 minutes.

Cancellation prior to arrival

Students cancelling or postponing within 14 days of arrival date, for reasons other than visa denial, will be charged a one-week accommodation fee at the standard accommodation rate and the accommodation placement fee. 

Cancellation after arrival

Students leaving their accommodation must give notice in writing 4 weeks prior to termination. After deducting the price of accommodation used, including the required notice period, charged at standard accommodation rates, students will be refunded the remaining accommodation costs. If the 4-week notice period is not provided, a cancellation fee equal to 4 weeks of the accommodation cost will apply.

Airport Pickup

If you have booked accommodation with EC you must arrive at the airport between 08:00 and 20:00. Late/early arrivals may be asked to book alternative accommodation. You will meet an EC transportation representative holding sign with the EC logo and your name. They will be waiting for you at Arrivals. If after 10 minutes you cannot see the EC representative, just call +44 (0)7966976513 (from the information desk or a mobile phone). If your flight is missed, delayed, or cancelled, or if there is any other problem, you should notify EC by calling +44 (0)7966976513 (from the information desk or a mobile phone) to rearrange your transfer time and avoid additional cost.

Other ways to get to your residence

Students can take trains from the airport straight so Cambridge station. National Express and National Rail can be booked directly at the airport. Students can ask the dedicated desks, the Information Desk or directly online: National Rail and National Express - please click the links for information on prices. From Cambridge station, students can take the Citi 1, 3 and 7 which will take approximately 10 minutes. If they walk it will take about 10-15 minutes.

House Rules

  • Student houses are suitable for students aged 18-28 years.
  • Mixed Gender: Male and female students share common areas and facilities
  • Credit card details will be taken upon arrival at school and will be used as a deposit against any damages. If students do not have access to a credit card, then a cash deposit of €150 will be taken and returned on the departure date (providing no damages have been found)
  • Smoking is not permitted in the student house.
  • Guests are not allowed
  • While we promote and support diversity, we cannot guarantee language mix. However, we always encourage students to use English to communicate, be respectful and inclusive of others
  • EC provides a clean living space for all students and expects a basic level of respect from all students. For example, if something is dropped, pick it up; do not leave clothes and belongings on the floor; place rubbish and leftovers in a garbage bag
