  • Cleaning service provided: weekly cleaning service (on Wednesdays) for both rooms and common areas and there will not be any extra charge. Cleaners don’t clean the dishes, the students must do that themselves. Also, every Wednesday the cleaners put clean bedsheets in the room but the student has to change them and put the dirty ones to the laundry room in certain bags

The house is also very close to a wide range of restaurants, cafes and shops.

Description of Accommodation

Kite House is a modern city centre building which has recently been constructed. It consists of two good size kitchens including all appliances, 14 single rooms with private bathrooms, and laundry facilities. The house is mixed gender.

Next to the student house are shops and take-away places (Chinese, Indian, and Turkish), a typical and popular Cambridge pub (CB2), a pharmacy (Boots), a post office, a bakery, and a supermarket (Tesco’s).

Arrival and departure

  • Arrival day: Saturday (Sunday arrival possible on request as EC needs to inform  the Meet&Greet person). Students arriving for check in at the residence, please contact our Meet & Greet Ewelina 30 minutes prior to arrival at 0788 981 1291).
    Check-in: after 2pm
    Those landing at the airport between 19:00 - 08:00 need to arrange an EC transfer or may check-in after 9:00.

  • Departure day: Saturday
    Check-out: before 10am
    Late check out is not allowed. Students can still use the common areas (kitchen) after they vacated their room. 

Journey to school

EC is located approx. 1 - 3 minutes walk from the student house. As you exit the student house, head northwest on Burleigh Street towards the Grafton Centre. After a minute or so you will see the EC Cambridge on your left hand side.

Your EC Welcome Pack includes a map of Cambridge showing the location of the school.


Cancellation prior to arrival

Students cancelling or postponing within 14 days of arrival date, for reasons other than visa denial, will be charged a one-week accommodation fee at the standard accommodation rate and the accommodation placement fee.

Cancellation after arrival

Students leaving their accommodation must give notice in writing 4 weeks prior to termination. After deducting the price of accommodation used, including the required notice period, charged at standard accommodation rates, students will be refunded the remaining accommodation costs. If the 4-week notice period is not provided, a cancellation fee equal to 4 weeks of the accommodation cost will apply.

Airport Pickup

If you have booked accommodation with EC you must arrive at the airport between 08:00 and 20:00. Late/early arrivals may be asked to book alternative accommodation. You will meet an EC transportation representative holding sign with the EC logo and your name. They will be waiting for you at Arrivals. If after 10 minutes you cannot see the EC representative, just call +44 (0)7966976513 (from the information desk or a mobile phone). If your flight is missed, delayed, or cancelled, or if there is any other problem, you should notify EC by calling +44 (0)7966976513 (from the information desk or a mobile phone) to rearrange your transfer time and avoid additional cost.

Other ways to get to your residence

Students can take trains from the airport straight so Cambridge station. National Express and National Rail can be booked directly at the airport. Students can ask the dedicated desks, the Information Desk or directly online: National Rail and National Express - please click the links for information on prices. From Cambridge station students can take the Park & Ride, Pedigree, A or B the busway or Citi 3 bus and it will take approximately 20 minutes.

House Rules

  • Students need to be 18+ to choose this accommodation
  • Student houses are suitable for students aged 18-28 years.
  • Mixed Gender. Male and female students share common areas and facilities, but bedrooms are single gender
  • Credit card details will be taken upon arrival at school and will be used as a deposit against any damages. If students do not have access to a credit card, then a cash deposit of €150 will be taken and returned on the departure date (providing no damages have been found)
  • Smoking is not permitted at any time.
  • Guests are not allowed
  • While we promote and support diversity, we cannot guarantee language mix. However, we always encourage students to use English to communicate, be respectful and inclusive of others
  • EC provides a clean living space for all students and expects a basic level of respect from all students. For example, if something is dropped, pick it up; do not leave clothes and belongings on the floor; place rubbish and leftovers in a garbage bag
