When choosing to stay with a Maltese English-speaking family, students have the unique opportunity to share and experience the day to day life of a local family together with all the diversity of the Maltese culture.

Whilst staying in a host family, students will be able to enjoy the full Embassy Summer experience by joining in all organised activities.

Living

  • Twin/triple/quad rooms with shared bathroom
  • Room furniture includes a single bed, wardrobe, a desk, a bedside table and a fan
  • Wi-Fi is available
  • Bedrooms cleaned weekly
  • Laundry is available once per week
  • Students are to bring their own towels, including a beach towel
  • Bed linens are provided and changed weekly
  • Dinner and breakfast served with the family, lunch served at school, or activity with packed lunches on weekends

Dining & facilities

Breakfast

Provided by the host. The content of breakfast will vary from host to host, however generally speaking it will consist of a continental breakfast available including juice, tea, coffee, toast, jams, cereal, pastries and fruit or similar.

Lunch

Served at school or on activity, lunch consists of
one hot or cold dish. 

Packed lunches are provided at weekends that will consist of a sandwich, water, and fruit.

Evening Meal

Evening meals for most of the stay will be with the host, and will be based around their typical diet.

Learning

  • Taught by friendly and professional English teachers
  • 20X45 minute lessons per week morning or afternoon
  • Placement test on day 1 to ensure students in appropriate level
  • Maximum 17 students per class
  • Students will be placed in an international class with students of different nationalities
  • Spacious modern classrooms with interactive whiteboards
  • Curriculum with emphasis on communication skills
  • Materials included as well as an end-of-course certificate of attendance

Programme

Arrival

Students will be welcomed upon arrival by their host families and house rules explained.

Welcome

On the first evening there will be a welcome activity which is designed to ensure students have the opportunity to meet staff and other students

First day

Once at school, students will take a one-hour placement test that assesses their grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, and speaking. Students are tested so they can be placed in the best class for their English level.

They will then attend an induction session delivered by an Embassy Summer staff member, which lasts approximately 30 minutes.

Activities

Activities are organised every day, in the mornings, in the afternoons and in the evenings. These activities take place either on-site or off-site the centre. These may include:

  • Sports such as football, table tennis, volleyball and basketball
  • Discover the most beautiful beaches around Malta
  • Explore exciting places such as Valletta, Mdina, Marsaxlokk
  • Join in-house games such as karaoke, talent show and team games

Besides the activities which are part of the standard programme, students can also join a variety of optional activities, some during weekdays, other on weekends only. These may include:

  • Gozo
  • Diving
  • Kayaking
  • Snorkelling

3 Week Sample Programmes

The programme starts on a Sunday and it includes the full 7 days of the week.

Students will take part of lessons, have lunch at school and go on activities. On weekends students will be provided with packed lunches before going on activity.

Student Welfare

We place the highest priority on care and supervision at all of our Embassy Summer centres, so you can rest assured that students are well looked after. Members of staff are available 24 hours a day.

  • Assistance with individual and personal problems
  • Emergency contact
  • Accommodation

Medical information

If a student needs medical attention, an Embassy Summer staff member will help them to make an appointment. Group leaders must accompany the student to an appointment. An Embassy Summer staff member will accompany any student that is not part of a group.

European students must bring their European Health Insurance Card to be seen at local hospitals and clinics. For Non European students we highly recommend to travel with their insurance.

INSURANCE
