What can you expect on this course?

Go wild in the Western Cape on an overnight safari trip! Travel off the beaten track to interact with wildlife; and with an expert game-ranger at your side, set out on a game drive through a malaria-free reserve in search of Africa’s Big Five.

Day 1: CAPE TOWN – 4x4 SAFARI – OUDTSHOORN

Morning pick-up from Cape Town. En route to Oudtshoorn, spot some of Africa’s wild animals from the back of an open 4x4 vehicle in a private game reserve. Look out for giraffes, white rhinos, kudus, lions, elephants, zebras and wildebeest to name but a few. The game drive is led by an experienced game ranger, who will share his knowledge of the local wildlife as well as other species such as antelope, birdlife and insects. Explore the Garden Route's fauna and flora on foot with a tranquil bush-walk safari. Follow a ranger as he tracks wildlife and teaches you some of the medicinal values of indigenous plants. Journey through the landscape of rugged plains and towering cliffs before reaching Oudtshoorn, the Ostrich Capital of the world, situated in the semi-desert Little Karoo region. This is where we will stay overnight.

Day 2: OUDTSHOORN - ELEPHANT WALK – ROUTE 62 – CAPE TOWN

Hop onto another open 4x4 vehicle for a guided Klein Karoo Bush Safari in search of more African wildlife, with the dramatic Swartberg Mountains as the backdrop. Choose an optional Elephant Bush Walk Experience (additional cost). Walk “up close and personal” alongside African elephants in their natural setting and learn more about these gentle giants. Travel back via the scenic Route 62 – South Africa's famous scenic country road, capturing the beauty of mountains, twisting passes, vineyards and orchards before returning to Cape Town by late evening.
