Description of accommodation

Grissom Hall is modern, comfortable, and convenient, allowing students the opportunity to establish independence and experiment with a variety of activities and experiences.

This hall is part of the popular Quad complex, which houses students of all grade levels and nationalities.  Grissom Hall is the university's International Connections house.  In this dorm, EC students will live with other students who are interested in learning about different cultures and international relations.  Events and activies will be held regualrly during the semester at this residence. 

The accommodation is a mixed-gender, four bedroom suite-style student residence holding a maximum of eight students per suite.Grissom Hall consists of both single and twin rooms (twin rooms are for same-sex students). Student who book twin rooms will be placed with American students whenever possible.There is a free laundry facility, and a kitchen area in the main lobby. 

This residence is for both American and international students. All residence halls are locked on a 24-hour basis. Residents are provided with electronic door access.

Description of local area

The Dunkirk-Fredonia area has a population of 30,000, with both outdoor recreational opportunities and two town centres within a few minutes’ drive from campus.

Students are drawn to the downtown village area not only for the bar and nightlife scene but for many other great attractions right in town. Local caf├ęs often have live entertainment in the form of bands, artists, and open mic nights. The Fredonia Opera House has everything from movie nights to live opera and theatre. 

The region, home to Chautauqua Institution and the Roger Tory Peterson Institute of Natural History, is an hour from Niagara Falls and is a vacation destination for many interested in arts, cultural, and all-season recreation. If you want to escape for a while, great hiking, golfing, skiing, fishing and boating are just minutes away from your busy life on campus.

Meal Description

 EC provides students with a meal card, issued by Fredonia, which is required for all students who are living on campus. The meal card provides students with credit for meals in dining facilities on campus, an average of 2 meals plus one light meal per day are budgeted for in the total sum credited at the beginning of their stay. The card is replenished every 4 weeks; however should students require  more credit, they are free to top up their cards as required.

Cancellations

Cancellation prior to arrival

 

If EC students do not complete their sessions, accommodation fees may be prorated on a daily basis, while board fees are due for the entire amount spent by the EC student at the FSA facilities (board). 

For EC students that do not complete their session, no refunds will be given for remaining board fees. 

If a student shortens their residence booking, they may qualify for a prorated partial refund. A 4 week notice is required to shorten housing booking length.
 

 

Airport Pickup

EC will arrange airport transfer for $130. Fee is non-refundable unless cancelled at least 24 hours in advance. When you exit the terminal you will take an escalator downstairs towards the baggage area. At the bottom of the escalator, look for the driver who will be holding an EC sign. Other ways to get to your residence

If you do not request airport pick-up, it is essential that you call 716-679-8998 before leaving the airport.  If this is not done, you will not be able to get into your residence when you arrive. Several rental companies offer car rental services from Buffalo Airport. There is also the opportunity to take a taxi to the Buffalo Bus Terminal. From here, you can take the Coach USA bus from Buffalo, NY to SUNY Fredonia.For more info on the bus, please see: here.
